MOTHERWELL CHAIR
Refurbished mid-century chair frame was stripped and finished with hand-rubbed oil finish. Custom made and custom painted cushions were made from reclaimed foam and natural canvas. The chair was made as a part of a series of reclaimed and refurbished interior objects.
The approach with this chair was to rethink upholstery design and fabric applications, as well as create a loose contrast with the chairs rigid, geometric frame. The style of the fabric paint application was inspired by the broad, rough strokes of Robert Motherwell.
